3.1 Light, Optics, Mirrors and Telescopes

Long ago, the phrase... "it's all done with mirrors"... referred to illusions used to trick people.

Today, astronomers like Detrick Branston use mirrors and basic principles of light and optics to study the Sun, and make forecasts of "space weather" to protect our global network of communications satellites.

In this video, lenses... mirrors... reflection... and refraction.

How the interaction of light with particles of air, dust and water ...makes the sky blue ...turns sunsets red ...and gives rainbows their colors.

And, putting light and optics to work, to help us bring the Universe... into focus.
