2.1 PHOTOSYNTHESIS
Why are there so many trees and plants in a rainforest?
Why are there more green leaves up in the canopy than in the understory, down below?
Why are there so few green plants in winter, and in regions like Antarctica, where it's perpetually cold?
And what do plants have to do with other creatures... from the lowly ant... to a mighty whale... to us humans? How do plants contribute to our survival?
The answers can be found in a phenomenon that starts on the Sun... and ends up with food on our table.
In this video you'll learn about this process...photosynthesis.
We'll travel from the Equator to the Poles, visiting two of Earth's most different ecosystems to see photosynthesis in context.
And we'll go from the forest... to the tree... to a single leaf to see how chemical bonds make life on Earth possible.
