2.4 Life in Extreme Environments
We've seen that photosynthesis is how energy from the sun is turned into food for plants... and how plants then feed the rest of life on Earth, in an intricate series of food webs.
We've seen how birds in Antarctica... and birds in the Amazon rainforest... have become adapted through natural slection to their very different environments.
But not all life on earth relies on photosynthesis. And life beyond Earth, if it exists, may be quite different.
In this video, "life as we now know it"... it's very different from what the textbooks used to say.
A look at places very cold ...very hot ...or very dry, testing "the limits of life"... and how looking for life in extreme environments also has researchers... "going to extremes."
