Video 8: Fire, Flood and the Future of the Forests

Industrial nations emit three times as much carbon dioxide from car exhausts and factories than results from tropical deforestation. This video encourages students to find out more about the rainforest and to interact with knowledgeable rainforest researchers.

"Lessons of the Fragments Study." Smithsonian botanist Bill Laurance reviews results from what some regard as the largest-scale environmental experiment ever: the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project (BDFFP).

"Cities, People, Fire, and Flood" uses satellite imagery to show how rainforests literally create regional and global weather.
