How long does it take for an image to reach earth from the planet Pluto?

Well lets figure it out...

The earth is about 93000000 (93 million ) miles from the sun.

Pluto is about 38 times further.  

Light travels at 186000 miles every second.  Soooooo

It should take about 38 * 93000000/186000 seconds  or about 5 hours!

So you see Pluto where it was 5 hours ago.

Its interesting that people noticed that the moons of jupiter seemed delayed 
when Jupiter is farthest from us.  They knew it was because of the light 
travel time, but didn't know the speed of light.  When we measured that 
(in a lab with mirrors) we also found out the distance to Jupiter!
