Is astronomy exciting?

I find astronomy a very exciting activity - having an understanding of the
sizes and distances of the things I look at is sometimes overwhelming.  To
realize that the light from a distant galaxy has been travelling for millions
of years just for me to see it sends chills up my spine; if I wasn't there
the light would just hit the ground and have been wasted!
